Last evening we met with dear friends to celebrate eight years of involvement in the Roma Health Scholarship Program story in Romania. We thank all those who were with us, we thank all fellows of the program for their wonderful development, and we thank the artists Anelise Sălan and Petruţ Călinescu for documenting medical activity of young Roma doctors.

We watched with excitement the first public screening of the documentary film by Anelise Sălan and the documentary photography exhibition by Petruţ Călinescu. The two artists offer us a unique perspective on young Roma today.

Roma Health Scholarship Program supports young Roma to build their education in the medical field. More than 600 Roma students received academic scholarships so far (2008-2016). They were assisted by mentors, attended camps advocacy, volunteering activities and medical congresses. The scholars are encouraged to actively assume their Roma identity.

Roma Health Scholarship Program is developed in Romania by Roma Education Fund, ActiveWatch, The Association of Resident Physicians and Roma Center for Health Policy – Sastipen.
